Cellulite Reduction Treatment in Connecticut with Accent XLTM

Everyone (well, every woman) develops cellulite. Though it’s nice to know that you probably have something in common with Jen and Angelina (and that isn’t Brad we’re talking about), being able to able to commiserate with celebrities over cellulite doesn’t make your thighs look any better. You can diet and exercise and smear various infomercial creams on that puckered stuff on your legs and it won’t make any difference.

Here’s the skinny -- or, not so skinny -- on what’s going on literally beneath the surface: Beneath the epidermis and dermis there are three fat layers. Cellulite develops in the most superficial of these layers, known as the subcutaneous fat layer. This layer is structurally unique from the others because its fat lobes are organized into chambers by surrounding strands of fibrous connective tissue. In a woman’s body, these fibrous bands are vertical, which allows for an abundant storage of fat and also causes the skin to be pulled inward toward the body’s interior. The fat that surrounds these fibers pushes up through the bands, which results in the puckering and bulging we identify as cellulite. Guys have different genetics and cellulite simply isn’t a big problem for them.

Now with Accent XLTM there is a safe, effective and technologically advanced treatment for this problem. Accent XLTM works through dual layer radiofrequency thermotherapy. Two different layers of the skin are treated using unipolar and bipolar energy. The bipolar energy treats the more superficial layers of the skin and the unipolar energy penetrates more deeply. Precise delivery of the thermal energy causes breakup of the collagen and of the adipose or fatty tissue.

As to the specifics of a treatment session, each session generally lasts 45 minutes but the time can vary from patient to patient. There is no downtime. You can immediately resume your normal activities. Most people describe at worst a mild discomfort during treatment, though the experience of pain is individual. The discomfort, again, is generally mild and does not approach that which patients used to experience with older technologies. Patients look fine after a procedure, though your skin may be slightly red. In general a course of treatments separated from each other by four to six weeks is required. All skin types can be treated. The effects of a course of therapy are not permanent and touch-ups are required to maintain results.
