HOW LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORKS
Hair grows from follicles under the skin. Laser Hair Removal targets these follicles. A beam of highly concentrated laser light penetrates the skin and, without damaging the surrounding tissue, is absorbed by the hair follicles. This laser energy heats them to a temperature that destroys them. Hair follicles go through different phases as the hair grows. Only during a certain phase are they sensitive to the laser light. Since not all follicles are in this phase at the same time multiple treatments are required over time so as to catch each of the follicles in the right phase.

What kind of har can be lasered?
For laser hair removal, the laser cannot do white or gray or light blonde hair. There has to be pigment in the hair for the laser to be absorbed. Waxing can be for all hair including gray and white. It is cheaper but needs to be done every few weeks. Waxing does not reduce hair growth but laser does. There are no quarantees for permanent hair removal using laser.
Should I shave before the laser treatment?
Shaving the day before or just prior to laser hair removal treatment is recommended and you may shave again twenty-four hours after treatment unless your provider tells you otherwise.
Is laser hair removal safe?

How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
Typically, 4 to 6 treatments are adequate to provide permanent hair reduction*. However, after a one-on-one consultation, your provider may determine that based on the density of your hair, hair color and skin color, you may require additional treatment. It’s not unusual to require a touch-up hair removal treatment one or two years after completing laser hair removal treatments.
Will my hair ever grow back?
Actively growing hairs that are treated should not grow back. Once a hair follicle is damaged it cannot grow hair. However, hair follicles that were not in the active growth phase during treatment will need to be treated at a later time. It’s also not unusual for patients to have a touch-up one to two years after initial treatment due to hormonal changes.
Do I need to arrange time off from work for treatments?
No. Vectus laser hair removal has no “down time” and requires no recovery time. You can have a treatment and return to work, school or other normal activities immediately.
How do I know laser hair removal really won’t hurt?
Most people find the Vectus laser hair removal treatment comfortable, especially when compared to other hair removal methods and lasers. This is one of the few laser hair removal procedures where numbing cream is not necessary. Pain is subjective, however, and may differ depending on locations such as bikini lines, brazilian, or chest, so if you are uncomfortable during treatment simply talk to your provider.
