Beautiful skin starts with a powerful combination of vitamins, antioxidants, growth factors, and peptides. Enriching the skin with adequate doses of these nourishing agents will restore the skin to a more youthful, radiant appearance. The cornerstone of your regimen should be vitamin A, as this vitamin plays a significant role in skin health. Along with vitamin A, vitamin C plays a very important role in reversing damage done by intrinsic aging and sun damage. Collagen cannot be synthesized without the help of vitamin C, and as such, this vitamin should form a fundamental part of your antioxidant brigade in reversing skin damage. Wrinkles become less noticeable when high concentrations of vitamin C are used along with vitamin A.
When you use a fat-soluble, stabilized form of vitamin C, your skin will become more firm and smooth due to the increased production of collagen. Go beyond just topical application by implementing micro-needling before using a high dose of vitamin C; increased penetration is achieved, thereby producing much larger amounts of collagen. Who doesn’t want tighter, younger skin! A luminescent glow will also radiate from your skin as pigment producing cells become more evenly dispersed and pigment production is limited. And let’s not forget its powerful antioxidant ability; think of free radicals as dirty quislings that have committed mutiny against healthy tissue. Vitamin C comes along to counter the damaging effects of these traitors, thus repairing and preventing further damage to the skin cells. Remember, most aging skin comes from skin cells that have been damaged by free radicals.
Skin that is compromised by specific skin conditions and environmental triggers will be greatly improved from a daily dose of topical vitamin C due to its ability to counter inflammation—inflammation destroys collagen; a daily dose of vitamins A,C,E will effectively counter inflammation. Here’s a fun fact: vitamin C has the ingenuity to recycle vitamin E after it has exhausted its antioxidant protection, thus recharging vitamin E’s skin protecting abilities. The more we can protect the integrity of the skin, the younger and more radiant our skin will become.
Let’s recap. We can create healthy, beautiful skin by using copious amounts of vitamins, antioxidants, and growth factors. Look for vitamins that are stored in an airtight container that is protected from light. Vitamin C should be in a fat-soluble form so as to penetrate the skin cells. The strength of the vitamin C matters: 15% or higher will give compelling results. It should be applied both morning and evening for transformative skin care. What is most important is the use of cosmetic micro-needling before the application of vitamins to see the best results.
