September is that exciting transition from summer to autumn, and that also means a transition in skincare. All of the fall themed products come out, such as pumpkin and apple spice masks to name a few. As the warmth of chai tea fills your hands as you watch the graceful fall of rainbow colored leaves, you remember winter is on its way and it’s time to prepare your skin for cooler weather. September is National Skincare Awareness Month, so it’s the perfect time to become aware of your own skin and what you can do to take care of it.
Think about your current routine and products. Do you have a routine? Do you use skincare products at all, and are they of quality? I like to ask my clients if they are happy with the performance of their current products and regimen. Take a look at what you are using, and how you’ve been taking care of your skin. Are you seeing any improvements or changes? Is your regimen or product line something that is realistic for you to stick to? If you’ve been using something or doing treatments for 2 or more months, and nothing is happening, it’s time to make some adjustments.
A great way to figure out what is right for you, is to ask yourself why are you using skincare, and why are you doing a regimen. What are your goals? Knowing what you want for your skin is the first step to finding the right products, and treatments. The most common goals are: anti or reverse aging, acne control, pigment and scar correction, and treating skin conditions such as sensitivity or rosacea. Before you spend money on products, play guessing games on your skin type, or treatments you think you need, meet with an esthetician or dermatologist that can point you in the right direction right from the start. A skin consultation and analysis is the foundation for providing your skin exactly what it needs, and will meet your results expectations. This month is the perfect time to start taking control of your complexion, and gear up for winter. Don’t let cold weather hold you back. Our esthetics staff is here to help you achieve your skincare goals, so schedule an appointment with us today, and enter this autumn with confident skin!
